Visual Artist

Bradely McCallum is an artist working in public space. During the last decade he has created site specific, civic-based artworks from collaborative process which utilizes oral history and testimony as the primary material for his work. His 1996 installation at the Wadsworth Athenaeum in Hartford, CT entitled, The Manhole Cover Project: a Gun Legacy, juxtaposed public utility covers forged from the metal confiscated firearms with audio recordings of gun violence survivors. His partnership with Jacqueline Tarry in Witness: Perspectives on Police Violence gave both artists the opportunity to interpret their own contrasting experiences with police. He received his BFA from Virginia
Commonwealth University in 1989 and his MFA in Sculpture from Yale University School of ART in 1992.
