Interdisciplinary Artist
Mariam Ghani works in video, installation, new media (including interactive installation and net art), and tactical media (including public dialogue performance). Her work has been supported by a Soros New Americans Fellowship, an Aaron Siskind Memorial Scholarship, net art commissions from Turbulence.org and artwurl, and residencies at Eyebeam Atelier, LMCC Workspace in the Woolworth Building and the MFA Computer Arts department at SVA, and has been exhibited nationally and internationally since 1999. Recent and upcoming projects include screenings at the Liverpool Biennial, the Danish Film Institute, the d.u.m.b.o. festival, Rooftop Films, Cinema East, the New York Video Festival, the Asia Society, the Boston Center for the Arts, Smart Project Space in Amsterdam, the 13a Mostra Curtacinema in Rio de Janeiro, and transmediale.03 in Berlin; site-specific installations at the Queens Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, White Box, Exit Art, the Asian American Art Center, Eyebeam and the Bronx Museum of the Arts; artist talks and lectures at Wesleyan, SVA, Hunter, Tufts, The College of New Jersey, Bennington, and NYU; and a collaboration in multidisciplinary performance with Michael Floyd & Emily Tepper. She lives & works in Brooklyn.
