Tina Kukielski is Senior Curatorial Assistant at the Whitney Museum of American Art. In the summer of 2004, concurrent with the Republican National Convention in New York, she co-curated The Freedom Salon exhibition with Apsara DiQuinzio at Deitch Projects. Providing an open forum for the expression and consideration of critical issues facing the nation and the world at large during a significant cultural moment, The Freedom Salon brought together work by over 40 contemporary artists, including Mel Chin, Sam Durant, Yoko Ono, Martha Rosler, Julia Sher, and Olav Westphalen. At the Whitney she has co-organized The American Effect: Global Perspectives on the United States 1990-2003 and Tim Hawkinson with Lawrence Rinder. Tina is currently co-organizing Elisabeth Sussman’s forthcoming exhibition, Remote Viewing: Invented Worlds in Recent Painting and Drawing opening in the summer 2005. She is a Ph.D. candidate at The Graduate Center, City University of New York.
